
Shadows on the Teche - Field Trip Information
Booking your Field Trip: Advanced scheduling for your
field trip is required. Please call the Shadows Administrative Offices
no later than two weeks prior to your anticipated field trip date to schedule:
337/369-6446 or use our online form and we will contact you to confirm.
Payment: Field trip payment arrangements will be made
at the time you confirm your field trip with our staff.
Cancellation Policy: At least 24 hours notice is appreciated.
Late Arrivals: Groups arriving late are requested to
call the Shadows Administrative Offices to inform staff of their actual
arrival time. Reservations are held for 20 minutes. Arrivals after this
grace period will be accommodated as time allows.
Length of Visit: Plan to spend a 1-1 1/2 hours on the
site (of course this varies on what you intend to include in the tour
and if you request special tours to coincide with your lesson plans).
All tours begin at the Visitors Center with a VC with a 12-13 minutes
introductory video. House tours run approximately 35-45 minutes after
which your group may tour the grounds, visit the museum shop, and use
the restroom facilities. Facilities are handicapped accessible where appropriate
as dictated by ADA standards and Historic Preservation laws.
Parking: Free car and bus parking can be accommodated
directly in front of the Shadows on Main Street or on Weeks Street which
can be reached by turning right at the corner of Main and Weeks streets
directly beyond the historic house.
Restrooms: Restrooms are available on the site and are
handicapped accessible.
Museum shop: The Shadows Service League sponsors a museum
shop on the site which features moderately priced museum souvenirs.
Picnic Facilities: Picnic Facilities are NOT available
on the shadows grounds but are available at nearby City Park.
