Shadows on the Teche - SupportJoin our Circle of Friends At Shadows-on-the-Teche, friends are especially valued just as they were in 1834 when this plantation home was built by sugar planter David Weeks. Overlooking picturesque Bayou Teche, this antebellum residence was home to four generations of one family. Friends and guests of each succeeding generation discovered the magic of this place, and their legacies live on in a vast collection of 17,000 personal letters, photographs, and recorded memories. Today, it is with the assistance of friends that research and archival work at The Shadows continue. As a result, we have created one of the best documented tour experiences in the country and have gained national recognition for quality interpretive and educational programming. We invite you to join Friends of the Shadows, an ever-widening circle of friends who support Shadows-on-the-Teche, a unique American historic site. We further encourage you to join the national Trust for Historic Preservation, trustee of the Shadows. Becoming a Friend of the Shadows is a great deal for you. And it means a great deal to us.
