History Through Art Student Exhibit

  • Shadows-on-the-Teche 320 E. Main Street New Iberia, LA 70560 (map)

Shadows-on-the-Teche is excited to host an exhibit opening in partnership with New Iberia Parks and Recreation and The Iberia African American Historical Society on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shadows Visitor Center. The exhibit features work completed by students this summer as part of an art program made possible by a grant from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc. and funds from the City of New Iberia. Students attending the program learned local history through exposure to the arts. The sessions were lead by three local artists: Antonio Loston, Jessica Moore, and Jeromy Young.

As part of the opening, the local artists will be on hand to share more about their involvement with the program. The students will share their experience in the summer program and their artwork with the public.

For those unable to attend the opening in person, the program will be live streamed through the Shadows’ Facebook page.

Artwork will be on exhibit through Saturday, October 1 and available for view during the Shadows’ operating hours of Thursday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
